In order to make positive response to the 4th “World Cities Day” theme activity cosponsored by UN-HABITAT, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and People's Government of Guangdong Province in Guangzhou October 31, 2017, implement the strategic requirements of "Healthy China", and promote the “Healthy Guangdong” and healthy city construction, the Seminar of a Healthy City in Innovation Development & Planning of Medical Care and Pension Industry was jointly held by Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute of Guangdong Province, Urban Planning Association of Guangdong Province and French PADW Architectural Design Firm in Guangdong Yingbin Hotel on May 26, 2017.

As one of the series of theme activities of the 4th “World Cities Day” held in Guangzhou, this seminar was highly valued and strongly supported by the Housing and Urban-Rural Department of Guangdong Province and French Consulate-general in Guangzhou. Zhang Shaokang, the director of Housing and Urban-Rural Department of Guangdong Province, Guo Zhuangshi, the deputy director-general, Fu Wejie, the consul general of Consulate General of the Republic of France in Guangzhou, Ke Baitong, the commercial department director of Consulate General of the Republic of France in Guangzhou, and the leaders of Construction Commission of Guangzhou Municipality, Civil Affairs Bureau and other departments attended the seminar. Many urban planning and design experts from China and France, and nearly 200 representatives from pension institutions, large hospitals, institutions of higher learning, well-known real estate companies, financial investment institutions and design units attended the conference.

The seminar was divided into two parts, namely, keynote speech and professional discussion. In the morning, the experts from French PADW Architectural Design Firm, Urban and Rural Planning Design and Research Institute of Guangdong Province, COLISEE (Beijing) International Enterprise Management Co., LTD., and Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province delivered the keynote speeches.

Mr. Bei Leji of French PADW Architectural Design Firm made a speech titled Nursing Space and Living Space. He put forward: the nursing space is not only expressed through the representational elements, such as area, function, equipment, and etc, but combined as a living place, and it is essential to make planning and design by emphasizing on combining the elders’ sensory requirements, and strive to create a nursing space with humanistic care and a comfortable living space and place.

President Wang Hui of the Urban and Rural Planning Design and Research Institute of Guangdong Province delivered a speech titled Integration of Regional High-quality Medical Resources to Explore the New Mode of Integrated Medical Services. He put forward: with the acceleration of aging population In China, family endowment and community endowment has become two ideal endowment patterns, and the important content in the construction of endowment service pattern in the 13th Five Year Plan. His speech started from the related family endowment cases in Zhuhai, put forward the methods and approaches to build the new integrated mode of community endowment from the perspective of big data analysis of aging, excavated the medical endowment service resources from the perspective of "spontaneous – self-growing – self-running" and probed into the balanced cooperation mode among different supply bodies.

Mr. Du Liwei, the Director of China Region of COLISEE (Beijing) International Enterprise Management Co., Ltd, made a speech titled Care, Meticulous. His speech emphatically introduced the medical care and endowment integrated project located in Panyu District of Guangzhou City, and this project mainly aimed at the semi-self-cared and non-self-cared elderly men, introduced the advanced endowment experience from French, and integrated the innovative old-age care concept into the life of the elderly in China, so as to provided high-end professional care and personalized nursing plan in combination with the requirements of the elderly through the ingenious design suitable for the elderly, thus creating an ideal endowment place for the elderly.

Director Zhong Xumin of Biayun Branch of the Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Guangdong Province delivered a speech titled How Could Public Hospital Link with Endowment Institutions. He pointed out in his speech that, under the background of the accelerated population aging in China and the national policy vigorously promoting the integration of medical care and endowment, we would be faced with both great opportunities and challenges in probing into the implementation of medical treatment and endowment, and the public hospitals should actively link with endowment service agencies. He proposed to create a new mode integrating medical treatment and endowment through government construction, public hospitals leadership and corporation investment starting from the actual case of such mode.

In the seminar at afternoon, Professor Li Xiaojiang, the former president of China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, Professor Dong Li, the former President of Faculty of Architecture & Urban Planning of Guangzhou University, and Professor Yuan Xiaomei, graduate student tutor of South China University of Technology made featured speeches about the population aging trend and response in China, the plight and countermeasures of medical treatment and endowment in China, and the medical treatment endowment buildings respectively. The experts and scholars of related companies, pension institutions and medical building design fields in France carried out an in-depth discussion around ageing problem, health city construction, medical treatment and endowment industry development, healthcare building planning and design, medical care service, solutions in medical treatment endowment field and other aspects.
