On the morning of April 4, 2018, the institute specially invited Dr. Jiang Mei, the Associate Professor of School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Special Editor of New Architecture to give a special lecture entitled "Study on the Urban Design Controlling Elements of Controlling Stages".

On the morning of April 4, 2018, the institute specially invited Dr. Jiang Mei, the Associate Professor of School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Special Editor of New Architecture to give a special lecture entitled "Study on the Urban Design Controlling Elements of Controlling Stages". The lecture was chaired by Deputy Chief Planner Li Jianping, and more than 100 technicians of the institute attended the lecture. The team led by Chen Qing, Director of Preparation and Research Center of Huangpu Development Zone.

 

Dr. Jiang Mei was giving the special lecture on "Study on the Urban Design Controlling Elements of Controlling Stages"

Firstly, Dr. Jiang introduced the preparation and management situation of urban design in Wuhan City, including the background information of development history, work framework, statutory control mechanism, and technical support platform, etc. Then Dr. Jiang focused on the introduction of research of urban control system of Wuhan City during the regulatory plan period. She made the reflections on the existing problems of urban design, and proposed to construct the urban design management and control element system during the regulatory plan period, and emphasized the standardized expression and flexible operation in the urban design management and control elements. Finally, Dr. Jiang introduced the follow-up research and application of the urban design management and control element system, so as to realize the transformation of the control and management of urban land space from plane to three-dimensional space and from extensive to fine mode.

 

In the Lecture

Through the rich content and the detailed explanation, Dr. Jiang Mei shared us the experience of urban design management and control of Wuhan City during the regulatory control period, which was of important enlightening significance for the technicians in the institute. After the lecture, a number of technical personnel exchanged their views and discussed with Dr. Jiang Mei on the problems such as the implementation effects of urban design, the formulation main body for the urban design standards, and the management and control of architectural styles. Finally, Vice President Li Jianping expressed his gratitude to Dr. Jiang Mei for her coming for exchanges in the institute.
