Foshan is the pilot demonstration city of urban-rural redevelopment ofGuangdongProvince, and it is the first urban-rural redevelopment plan among the cities above provincial level in the whole province, which makes a scientific exploration in the transformation and upgrading of rapid urbanization region. The main thoughts and content of planning has become the working methods of urban-rural redevelopment in the whole province, providing the model for preparation of urban-rural redevelopment. The main features of redevelopment plan are:

（1）Put forward the delimiting principles of "two red lines, and respective management", determine that urban-rural redevelopment will support the overall development goal of "modern manufacturing base, industry service center, Lingnan cultural city, and beautiful and rich home", promote the "industry transformation, urban transformation and environment reengineering" of Foshan, emphasize on the public benefit of urban-rural redevelopment, and put forward the special guidance for “making decrement, increasing green, and reflecting the people's livelihood ".

(2) Put forward three levels to determine the intensity of urban-rural redevelopment. Predict the total construction area from macroscopic aspects, determine the total transformation and overall intensity; establish multiple-factor model and visibility analysis through through GIS method in meso-level , and control and guide the reforming unit; specifically determine the intensity of reconstructed plot in the detailed regulatory plan at micro level.

(3) Put forward four transformation types based on the changes in the elements of transformation object, put forward four transformation modes based on the change in the ownership of subject, as well as a set of urban-rural redevelopment project land development process and corresponding policy guarantee mechanism, and determine the implementation plan of "recent control, future guide" and the guidelines for the transformation of towns and streets.
